How does this medication work? What will it do for me?
This combination product contains three medications: acetaminophen, codeine, and caffeine.
Acetaminophen belongs to the group of medications called analgesics (pain relievers) and antipyretics (fever reducers).
Codeine belongs to the group of medications called narcotic analgesics.
Caffeine belongs to the group of medications called stimulants.
This combination of medications is used to treat mild-to-moderate pain associated with conditions such as headache, dental pain, muscle pain, painful menstruation, pain following an accident, and pain following operations.
Your doctor may have suggested this medication for conditions other than those listed in these drug information articles. As well, some forms of this medication may not be used for all of the conditions discussed here. How should I use this medication?
The usual recommended adult dose is 1 or 2 tablets taken every 4 hours as required. The dose should be adjusted according to the amount of pain experienced. The maximum dose of this medication is 12 tablets in 24 hours.
If recommended by a doctor or dentist, children 12 to 14 years of age may take 1 tablet 3 to 4 times daily.
Many things can affect the dose of a medication that a person needs, such as body weight, other medical conditions, and other medications. If your doctor has recommended a dose different from the ones listed here, do not change the way that you are taking the medication without consulting your doctor.
Acetaminophen should not be taken to relieve pain for more than 5 days or to relieve a fever for more than 3 days, unless directed by a doctor.
It is important to take this medication exactly as prescribed by your doctor. If your doctor has told you to take this medication on a regular basis and you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible and continue with your regular schedule. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one. If you are not sure what to do after missing a dose, contact your doctor or pharmacist for advice.
Store this medication at room temperature, protect it from light and moisture, and keep it out of reach of children.

Atasol-8
Each light peach, round, biconvex tablet bisected on one side, imprinted "ATASOL" on one section, and "8" on the other, plain on other side, contains acetaminophen 325 mg, codeine phosphate 8 mg, and caffeine citrate 30 mg (equivalent to 15 mg caffeine). Nonmedicinal ingredients: alumina, cellulose, D&C Yellow No. 10, FD&C Yellow No. 6, magnesium stearate, silicon dioxide, and starch (corn). This medication does not contain gluten or tartrazine.
Atasol-15
Each light yellow, round, biconvex tablet bisected on one side, imprinted "ATASOL" on one section, and "15" on the other, plain on the other side, contains acetaminophen 325 mg, codeine phosphate 15 mg, and caffeine citrate 30 mg (equivalent to 15 mg caffeine). Nonmedicinal ingredients: alumina, cellulose, D&C Yellow No. 10, FD&C Yellow No. 6, magnesium stearate, silicon dioxide, and starch (corn). This medication does not contain gluten or tartrazine.
Atasol-30
Each pale green, round, biconvex tablet bisected on one side, imprinted "ATASOL" on one section, and "30" on the other section, plain on the other side, contains acetaminophen 325 mg, codeine phosphate 30 mg, caffeine citrate 30 mg (equivalent to 15 mg caffeine). Nonmedicinal ingredients: alumina, cellulose, FD&C Blue No. 1, FD&C Yellow No. 5, magnesium stearate, silicon dioxide, and starch (corn). Also contains tartrazine. This medication does not contain gluten.

Do not take this medication if you are allergic to acetaminophen, to codeine, to caffeine, or to any of the ingredients of the medication.
