In order for your child's vaccines to work their best, your child needs to receive all doses on time. If your child misses a vaccine dose, they may need a "catch-up dose" of vaccine to make up for the missed dose. Children who started vaccinations later in life may also need vaccine catch-up doses.
Use an immunization record (a small card provided by your health care professional) to record all vaccine doses that your child receives. At each health care professional's visit, bring your child's immunization record and ask your health care professional whether your child's vaccines are up to date. If you think your child may have missed a vaccine or are not sure whether their vaccines are up to date, talk to your health care professional.
