If your asthma is under control, you should:

  • have daytime symptoms less than 4 days per week and nighttime symptoms less than 1 night per week
  • have only mild and infrequent exacerbations (asthma attacks)
  • need less than 4 doses of your reliever medication per week
  • not have to miss school or work due to your asthma
  • not be limited in your physical activity

If you don't meet all of the above criteria, or are concerned about your asthma control, discuss your symptoms and treatments with your health care professional – it's the first step to limiting the impact of asthma on your life.
