How does this medication work? What will it do for me?
Diltiazem belongs to a family of medications known as calcium channel blockers. It is used to treat high blood pressure and angina (chest pain). It works by relaxing blood vessels and by reducing the workload of the heart. The injectable form of this medication is sometimes used in the hospital to bring abnormal heart rhythms under control.

How should I use this medication?
The recommended dose of diltiazem can range from 30 mg to 360 mg daily. The capsules should not be chewed or crushed.

Each light turquoise blue, opaque controlled delivery hard gelatin capsule, containing white to off-white beads and imprinted in blue on the body with "Alti-Dilt CD 120 mg", contains diltiazem HCI 120 mg. Nonmedicinal ingredients: eudragit, polysorbate 80, methylcellulose, microcrystalline cellulose, talc and tributyl citrate; capsule shell: FD&C Blue No. 1, gelatin, sodium lauryl sulfate, silicon dioxide and titanium dioxide. Bisulfites-, gluten- and tartrazine-free.
180 mg
Each blue opaque cap and light turquoise opaque body controlled delivery hard gelatin capsule, containing white to off-white beads and imprinted in blue on the body with "Alti-Dilt CD 180 mg", contains diltiazem HCI 180 mg. Nonmedicinal ingredients: eudragit, polysorbate 80, methylcellulose, microcrystalline cellulose, talc and tributyl citrate; capsule shell: FD&C Blue No. 1, gelatin, sodium lauryl sulfate, silicon dioxide and titanium dioxide. Bisulfites-, gluten- and tartrazine-free.

Nonmedicinal ingredients: eudragit, polysorbate 80, methylcellulose, microcrystalline cellulose, talc and tributyl citrate; capsule shell: black iron oxide, FD&C Blue No. 1, gelatin, sodium lauryl sulfate, silicon dioxide and titanium dioxide. Bisulfites-, gluten- and tartrazine-free.

Who should NOT take this medication?
This medication should not be taken by anyone who:
- has certain types of heart rhythm problems
- is allergic to diltiazem or any ingredients of the medication
- has severe low blood pressure
- has weakened pumping action of the heart
